18th century Embroidery inspiration from a visit to The Platt Hall Gallery of Costume

I took a trip to Platt Hall Gallery of Costume in Manchester. Here I booked an appointment to view some 18th century textiles in the form of 2 dresses and 2 purses. The staff were very helpful and the pieces were stored so pristinely in tissue paper. I carefully unfolded the paper to reveal works of art. I tried to capture the detail within the photographs but I dont think it does the stitches any justice.
I especially love the goldwork and studied this carefully taking notes and photographs to capture its structure. This is something I want to take forward within my own work so observing it first hand is a priviledge.
